“Deadpool & Wolverine” Gets Its Rating

Hot off talk that its director Shawn Levy could be handling the next “Avengers” film, Marvel Studios’ “Deadpool and Wolverine” has finally secured its official rating and classification details from the MPA.

FilmRatings.com reports that the blockbuster has landed an R rating for “strong bloody violence and language throughout, gore and sexual references”.

An R rating was always in the cards for the film which has been sold on the fact Marvel Studios are dipping their toes in those waters for the first time with this.

The film broke pre-sales records, selling more tickets than any other R-rated movie ever along with the best opening day sales of 2024, the best for an R-rated feature, and a new high for the franchise.

“Dune: Part Two” has had the biggest opening of the year so far with $81.5 million, a number “Deadpool and Wolverine” is expected to beat handily and deliver an opening weekend domestic debut above $100 million.

The first two films landed at $782 million and $785 million respectively with this one having the potential to become one of the highest-grossing R-rated movies of all time.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” opens in cinemas on July 26th.
